Here is my 4 part writing process:
I will first work with you to create a brief so that both of us are on the same page about the kind of copy you want to be written.
Conversion copywriting is about leveraging data. I will work with you to get as much data from you as possible. The data I get from you can come from thank you page surveys, cancellation/refund surveys, support tickets, scroll and heat maps, customer interviews, conversion data of your emails, ads and webpages like sales and landing pages. In addition, I will look at competitors’ publicly available marketing assets. I will also mine customer reviews of your competitors to get voice-of-customer data. I will use all this data to create a message map to use for writing copy.
I will write, edit and proofread the copy several times. I will then review it against the brief. I will ensure that the copy is clear and specific. I will also ensure that the copy sticks to the brand voice. I will also suggest images and graphics that can be used in the copy.
Depending on your requirements, I will test the written copy. That can include, split testing the copy I have written against the copy that was used before. We can install scroll tracking and heat map generation software on the pages we are testing. We can use UserTesting [dot] com and AYTM [dot] com to test specific parts of copy. We can further improve the copy based on the learnings.

In case you are wondering what I was doing before I got into copywriting, I was working as an engineer at Exxonmobil’s India office. I worked there from 2017 to 2020. Exxonmobil is a 125 year old multinational oil and gas company.
Before that I was in the USA from 2014 to 2017. There, I earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, it is one of the top 10 Universities in the USA. Along with studies, I had also worked as a research assistant at the University. These experiences have given me a global perspective.
